Think about a research review you followed for one specific person's judgment — and what happened to it when that person moved on. The masthead stayed. The thing you were actually subscribing to left with them. That is what borrowed credibility is worth, and it is the clearest evidence that authority in this field attaches to a person rather than a publication. When you publish, the work carries your name and your reputation travels with it. The scarce thing is not access to research; it is a durable place for what you concluded from it, with the trail intact.
